Sault Ste Marie

Spiritual Advisor: S. Pat Carter, csj

Pat Carter entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in 1983 and has been a teacher for 31 years. She taught at Mount St. Joseph College for 22 of those years and now is the Religious and Family Life Education Consultant and the Faith Animator for the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board. She served her Congregation as a Vocation Director from 1996-2005.

Pat loves to teach people to pray and has introduced Christian Meditation to the Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in the H-SCDSB schools. It is a privilege to teach people how to deepen their relationship with God. In her spare time she loves to read and to watch movies. Pat serves as a cantor at the 9:00 mass at St. Jerome’s Parish where she belongs to the CWL.

Regional Chairperson: Colleen Murphy

Colleen was born in a small village in Saskatchewan, attended university in Saskatoon, worked and met her husband Bill in Calgary and moved to Sault Ste. Marie with their first daughter Megan in 1987.

She attends St. Gerard Majella parish, and was invited to join the CWL after her second daughter Rita was born in 1988.  She attended her first CWL meeting as a Christian Family Life Chairperson. She has also held positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Tea Convenor, President and Past President.  She also chaired the 2016 Diocesan Convention.  She currently sings and plays guitar for the 11 am Sunday Mass and helped on the Baptism and Marriage Preparation teams in the past.

She and Bill have two more daughters, Erin and Bridget.  The 3 younger daughters live out of town, but Megan is married, lives in the Sault and has 2 daughters.  Girls rule – at least in this Murphy family!

Colleen works as an IT Analyst for the City of Sault Ste. Marie, but is heading for retirement in 2019.  She leads a Saturday lunch team at St. Vincent Place, loves singing in the Algoma Festival Choir, and in her spare time, she golfs, hikes, snowshoes, paddles and loves to travel!
